The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at R.V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru, successfully conducted a transformative Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) on September 13, 2025. Held at the CCH Lab, the event was designed to bridge the critical gap between academic theory and rapid industrial advancements, offering a full-day session of keynote talks, demonstrations, and interactive discussions. The program was inaugurated by Dr. K. N. Subramanya, Principal of RVCE, who emphasized the urgency of aligning educational frameworks with evolving AI technologies, while Vice Principal Dr. K. S. Geetha highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering AI-driven innovation and capacity building among faculty. A focal point of the event was the keynote address delivered by Mr. Anurag Singh, Director of IT and Analytics at Honeywell. He provided valuable insights into the industrial adoption of GenAI, citing real-world use cases in automation, predictive analytics, and content generation, while stressing the importance of responsible AI development. Following the keynote, the technical sessions delved into the foundations of Large Language Models, prompt engineering, and model fine-tuning. Participants also engaged in critical discussions regarding ethical considerations and bias in generative systems, exploring how these tools can be applied in education and data science. The event saw active participation from around 80 faculty members across various engineering departments, reflecting a strong institutional interest in leveraging AI for research and teaching excellence. Through hands-on demonstrations using modern frameworks, attendees gained practical understanding and conceptual clarity on GenAI workflows. Overall, the program proved to be an insightful initiative, successfully empowering educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to integrate GenAI into their research and curriculum, thereby fostering technological literacy and innovation readiness across the institution.
